History of CGS Amasaman

Central Gospel School, Amasaman, popularly known as Shalom International School, began in the year 11th September,2007 when the church ICGC Shalom Temple was celebrating its 10th anniversary. The founding of the school was the milestone of that particular anniversary. The ceremony of the inauguration of the school took place at thanksgiving service of that anniversary which attracted so many dignitaries including the General Overseer of the International Central Gospel Church Rev. Dr. Mensa Otabil and the then Vice Chancellor of Central University, Prof. Victor Gadzekpo who were the guest speakers of the anniversary programme and the school’s inaugural day respectively.

The school began with five pupils of the ages between 2 and 4 years old, all of them were enrolled from the church’s Sunday school into the Preschool (Nursery) under the headship of Mrs. Patricia Kwarkye. The school began from the church’s auditorium and by the end of 2014/15 academic year, the pupils increased to about 50 learners.

The rise in the enrollment motivated the leadership of the church to mobilize its resources to begin the construction of the present classrooms building in May, 2015. The construction work which was fully funded by the Shalom Temple Church was done in stages and was finally completed in August 2018.

The enrollment of the school began to experience an exponential growth and by the 2016/17 academic year, all the levels of the school, the Preschool, the Primary and the Junior High School had been enrolled with learners.

Since its inception, the school has turned out seven batches of JHS 3 graduates as at 2022.  Almost all the graduates have gained admission into Senior High Schools and Technical & Vocational Institutions in the country. And majority have proceeded to the tertiary institutions in the country and reading various programmes.

Today, the school has a population of six hundred and eighty-five (685) as at the closed of 2022 academic year and a total of fifty-one (51) staff. Currently, CGS, Amasaman is one of the fastest growing private school in the Amasaman community.
